FAQ —

What concerns can BBL treat?
BBL is highly effective for improving sun damage and age spots, brown spots and freckles, redness and rosacea, broken capillaries, uneven skin tone, and dull or tired-looking skin.

Is BBL safe for all skin types?
BBL is safe for many skin types, but not all skin tones are candidates. A consultation is required to determine safety and appropriate settings. Darker or recently tanned skin may not be eligible for treatment.

Does BBL hurt?
Most patients describe BBL as a quick warm snap, similar to a rubber band against the skin. Discomfort is generally minimal and well-tolerated. Cooling is used during treatment to maximize comfort.

How many treatments will I need?
For best results, most patients benefit from a series of 3–5 treatments, spaced about 3–4 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments may be recommended annually to preserve results.

How should I prepare for my appointment?
To prepare for treatment, avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for 2–4 weeks beforehand, discontinue retinoids, exfoliants, and other active skincare products 5–7 days prior, arrive with clean skin free of makeup, lotion, or sunscreen on the treatment area, and avoid tanning beds or spray tans before your appointment.

What should I expect after treatment?
After treatment, the skin may appear red or flushed for a few hours to a couple of days, and pigmented spots may temporarily darken before flaking off over 7–14 days; this is normal and expected. Post-care recommendations include applying sunscreen daily, avoiding heat and excessive sweating for 24–48 hours, using only gentle skincare for several days, and limiting sun exposure.

Is there downtime with BBL?
BBL has minimal downtime. Most patients return to normal activities immediately, though redness and temporary darkening of pigmentation can occur.

How soon will I see results?
Many patients notice brighter, clearer skin within 1–2 weeks after treatment. Results continue to improve with each session as collagen production increases.

Is BBL the same as IPL?
BBL is an advanced form of IPL technology. It delivers more controlled, customizable energy for improved safety, comfort, and results compared to traditional IPL systems.

Who is not a candidate for BBL?
BBL may not be recommended for individuals who are pregnant, have active skin infections or open wounds, have recently tanned skin, or are taking certain photosensitizing medications; your provider will review your medical history during your consultation to determine if the treatment is appropriate for you.

Why choose BBL?
BBL is an ideal choice because it treats multiple skin concerns in a single session, improves skin tone, texture, and clarity, stimulates collagen production, requires minimal downtime, and utilizes clinically proven technology.

FAQ —

What kind of laser do we use for laser hair removal?
At The Method Aesthetics and Wellness, we use the Candela® GentleMax Pro® which is a medical-grade laser hair removal system that uses advanced Alexandrite (755 nm) and Nd:YAG (1064 nm) laser technology to safely and effectively reduce unwanted hair on all skin types. It is considered the gold standard in laser hair removal.

How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle. The laser energy heats and damages the follicle, reducing its ability to regrow hair over time—without damaging the surrounding skin.

Is the GentleMax Pro® safe for all skin tones?
Yes. One of the biggest advantages of the GentleMax Pro® is that it is safe and effective for all skin types, including darker skin tones. Your provider will select the appropriate wavelength and settings based on your skin and hair type.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Most patients describe the sensation as a quick snap or rubber-band feeling. The GentleMax Pro® is equipped with a dynamic cooling device (DCD) that sprays a cooling burst before each laser pulse, helping maximize comfort and protect the skin.

How many treatments will I need?
Because hair grows in cycles, multiple treatments are required. Most patients need 8-10 sessions, spaced about 4–6 weeks apart, depending on the treatment area, hair density, and individual response.

How should I prepare for my appointment?
Prepare for your appointment by shaving the treatment area 24 hours beforehand, avoiding waxing, tweezing, or threading for four weeks, limiting sun exposure and self-tanner for two weeks, and arriving with clean, product-free skin.

What should I expect after treatment?
After treatment, you may experience mild redness or warmth similar to a sunburn that typically resolves within a few hours to 1-2 days, and while normal activities can be resumed immediately, we recommend avoiding sun exposure, using daily SPF, and avoiding heat such as hot tubs or saunas for 24–48 hours.

Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal provides long-term hair reduction, not guaranteed permanent removal. Many patients experience a significant decrease in hair growth, with hair becoming finer and lighter over time. Occasional maintenance treatments may be recommended.

Can laser hair removal be done year-round?
Yes, but it is best performed when the skin is not tanned. Fall and winter are ideal, but treatments can still be done year-round with proper sun protection and adherence to pre- and post-care guidelines.

Who is not a candidate for laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal may not be recommended if you are pregnant, have active skin infections or open wounds in the treatment area, are taking certain photosensitizing medications, or have very light, blonde, red, or gray hair with limited pigment, and a consultation is required to determine candidacy.
